Dogs help you live longer is one of their best qualities. Not only are they good for a healthy lifestyle by promoting physical activity, socialization, and mental stimulation, but also a study showed that you are more likely to survive a heart attack if you have a pet than if you don’t (94% Vs. only 72%). Dog owners, generally, have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
More and more hospitals use therapy dogs to help patients recover from debilitating and life-threatening illnesses. One example is the “Dogs on Call” program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
